The land of the sunshine and palm trees, southern California, is home to a legendary legacy in the fabric of hip-hop. It’s also the birthplace of multi-faceted hip-hop producer, Roc Steady, whose grind and dedication to the craft is leading him down the road to success. Roc Steady got his start in the game by hanging around his cousins, members of the Compton collective, Madd Nation. In the wake of the new millennium, they scored a regional hit with “Hotel Motel,” which caught the attention of rapper/producer DJ Quik, and Suga Free, who promptly remade/re- released the song, which was followed by an LP. Their success — and recording deal — was a major inspiration that drove Roc to start his career in the game. He’s noted that he draws influences from producers like Battlecat, DJ Quik, Dre, Neptunes, and Phunk Beta.
